WHY I WROTE LITTLE WHITE TEETH
As a child I went through various stages of teeth evolution: braces, palate brace, wisdom teeth removed, chipped teeth, three filings, 18 months in hospital and a lot of unnecessary challenges and mouth trauma for various reasons.
McLean is my actual surname and as a child the wit of the playground allowed for the nickname MacLean's Toothpaste so here I am now 30 years later aged 37 and I guess I am finally getting the message to: go easy on sugary foods, reduce alcohol intake to a minimum and to be a healthier person.
I studied at the University of Essex for a degree in Sports Science and not one lesson was about mouth care and how to look after the Teeth. Ironically, I also worked with an energy drinks company and did not look after myself very well, at times drinking more than the diet or the teeth requires or needs. A vital point about the concept of "Little White Teeth" is the notion that looking after one’s inner well- being can reflect into a happier outlook in general (with a beaming, white smile).
I believe the target audience for my book includes: mouth care professionals and new parents, especially those who may need to encourage their children about the need for prevention of problems; so that the youth do not have to go through the same problems I went through in my youth.
